Training
On-site client employees may be trained to achieve industry standard quality under the guidance of a BC certified assayer. Training areas include sample prep, fire assaying, wet chemistry, laboratory information management systems, quality control, good laboratory procedures, safety and environmental considerations all specific to the onsite application.
Quality
Quality control / assurance is fundamental in providing consistent, reliable and useful data. SEACAN QC program points are as follows.
QC Program
1) An in-house standard reference material (SRM) is manufactured by crushing, pulverizing and mixing ore from the site. Average values are determined through round robin testing (by SEACAN). Enough SRM is produced to last several years.
2) Certified reference materials (such as CDN/CANMET) are chosen and purchased according to the nature of the ore body.
3) On-site, client assayer is trained to consistently achieve acceptable values on SRM 1 & 2 for the elements of concern.
4) The in-house SRM is assayed with every sample batch with duplicates and blanks. Quality control software automatically checks results and will not allow deviant data to be reported.
5) About one sample in 100 is sent out for independent testing on a weekly basis. This allows management to know with certainty the quality of assaying performed onsite. Decisions of confidence can be made to save/make the operation potentially many millions of dollars.
